An Alaskan Adventure That Became Home

Coming to Alaska changed everything for me. What began as a summer trip from Texas in 2008 turned into a new life in Seward, and eventually the chance to become the owner of the Nauti Otter. I’ve loved building a place where travelers can stay comfortably and affordably while exploring Alaska.

How I Ended Up Owning an Inn

That first summer, I flew to Anchorage, bought a car, and drove to Seward. I found an inn where the owner let my cousin and me work in exchange for housing. When summer ended, I was asked to stay through the winter to watch over the inn, so I resigned from teaching in Texas and returned to Alaska. A few months later, I was offered the opportunity to purchase the business, and I accepted.

Growing Into Something More

Several years later, my husband Clint and I purchased additional land in Seward and developed it from the ground up into what is now the Yurt Village. We built it with environmental considerations in mind, clearing only what we needed for yurt sites, a fire pit, and shared gathering areas while keeping much of the natural brush and vegetation.

The Nauti Otter Today

Today, Clint and I own and manage both properties together. We love welcoming guests to Seward and sharing local knowledge to help with plans, tours, and day trips around the Kenai Peninsula. Our hope is that your stay feels unforgettable and brings you back again.
